Hallowe’en Nail Art Challenge – Spider Web!

I’m not usually one to toot my own horn (well, too much;)) but I really love how this manicure turned out! This was a coat of black (Nails Inc. Black Taxi), two coats of China Glaze Mummy May I, and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Silver Sweep sponged on. The spider and web are both from the Bundle Monster BM13 plate.

Usually I’m terrified of spiders, but I’m okay with them on my nails. I scream and make my husband smash them dead. If he’s not around and I’m feeling particularly brave, I’ll just vacuum them up. I’ve been tempted to set the vacuum cleaner on fire afterwards, but it’s expensive replacing vacuum cleaners so often.

Hope you enjoyed it! Are you participating in the Hallowe’en Nail Art Challenge?

Girly Bits Candy Corn Hallowe’en Manicure

Wow! Girly Bits has released their Hallowe’en collection, and let me just say it’s pretty fantastic. My favourite has got to be Candy Corn! This is two coats of Candy Corn over black. Candy Corn is a very dense matte glitter– lots of white glitter in all different sizes, including bar glitter, as well as yellow and orange glitter. Such a cool combo! I figured showing this over black would be a good way to demonstrate how awesome this polish is while still maintaining a Hallowe’en-themed manicure. I got a ton of compliments on this when I wore it out and it’s so simple! So if you don’t want to be bothered with nail art for the fall, this polish is a pretty great cheat!

I have lots more Girly Bits coming up in the next couple days, so stay tuned! And if you’re interested in purchasing any, make sure you check out the Girly Bits store. It looks like a few of her polishes are sold out, but she does restock regularly.

EDIT: You can also purchase Girly Bits from the following e-tailers, who will have the Hallowe’en polishes up soon! Harlow & Co, Llarowe, Overall Beauty, and Mei Mei’s Signatures.

Sweet Cuppin’ Cakes with Nails Inc.!

Every time I say “cupcakes” in my head (which is often, because really… cupcakes!) I say it as “sweet cuppin’ cakes,” as in this Strong Bad Email. Do you guys remember Homestar Runner? Sad that they don’t update anymore, but I stopped watching the last year or two that they were making videos, so at least I have quite a bit to catch up on.

ANYWAY! NAIL THINGS! This is two coats of Nails Inc. Pudding Lane from their Special Effects Sprinkles line. I figured with the emphasis on baked goods in this line, I may as well have my nails represent! These are all stamped with Konad Special White polish.

Index: Konad plate M14
Middle: Bundle Monster plate BM-308
Ring: Bundle Monster plate BM-307
Pinkie: Bundle Monster plate BM-308

Those are some really cute stamps! I especially like the way the donut on my middle finger turned out– definitely going to play with that! It would look neat in pink!

Nails Inc. Sprinkles Special Effects in Pudding Lane

Today I have a quick swatch for you! This is two coats of Nails Inc. Pudding Lane from their Special Effects Sprinkles line. My best friend picked it up for me at Sephora and I’m really glad she did– this polish is awesome! The blue base is just the perfect robin’s egg blue, and then the glitter is the perfect combination of matte and shiny blues and golds. When you add a second (or even third, but I think two coats is sufficient) coat, it gives the polish and glitter even more dimension. DROOL!

I know W7 has a line that dupes this line from Nails Inc. (or maybe Nails Inc. dupes W7, who knows!) Check out this comparison over at Pretty Digits. I couldn’t tell the difference!

In other news, my tomato plants are still growing! Here’s the latest batch from my garden. I really like being able to go out into my backyard and pick them right off the vine and then go and make lunch or dinner with them. I just used them on some homemade naan bread pizza the other day and it was delicious!

Batman-icure!

I’m a huge Batman fan– well, I should specify– I’m a huge fan of the darker Batman films, so the Christian Bale and Michael Keaton eras. I’m so excited for The Dark Knight Rises, I even tried to get my husband to take Friday off from work so we could see an afternoon showing. Sadly, Batman is not a valid reason to miss work. Whatever.

This quick little mani was put together with Nails Inc Black Taxi, Girly Bits Into the Night, and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Lightening. I freehanded a Batman logo (rather, I tried to freehand a Batman logo!) on the accent nail using a dotting tool and a toothpick.

Who is your favourite super hero? Are you excited about The Dark Knight Rises? Have you seen it yet? Aahhh! Too excited… haha!

St. George? More like St. Ozotic!

I knew St. George had some more life to give, so I added a few more polishes on top of him. Why not! This is one coat of A-england St. George, followed by a coat of Ozotic 505. Here’s some picspam of the colour shift:

And just because that wasn’t enough, I added a blue flakie– two coats of Nails Inc. The Old Vic Overglaze Top Coat:

Phew!

What’s your favourite polish to layer with St. George? Or do you prefer him nekkid?

Nails Inc. Old Vic and Flakie Overload!

For Christmas, my best friend picked up the Nails Inc. Old Vic duo for me, which was perfect because not only do I love flakies, I was also running out of black nail polish!

This is two coats of the black (would have been fine with just one, but I like that extra coat) and two coats of the flakie, Old Vic, which is a sapphire blue and densely packed. It’s so glowy and beautiful!

You’ll notice my accent ring finger nails are just on flakie overload. I wanted a little more oomph, so I added a coat of Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure, NYX Girls Blue Ave., and NYX Girls Purple Ave., and topped it off with another coat of Nails Inc. Old Vic. I think this is a much better attempt at bootlegging Cult Nails’ Unicorn Puke– or at least much better than previous attempt.

I’m glad to see so many companies coming out with flakie polishes. I still need to get the Finger Paints ones, but my Sally’s hasn’t gotten them in yet. Zoya is coming out with some flakies soon, too. Debating on whether or not I need those. I’ll wait for swatches. What do you think of all the flakie goodness?
