I Suffer From Nail Pattern Boldness…

npb_texas001

Isn’t that the greatest name for a nail polish– Nail Pattern Boldness? Maybe I’m too easily amused… at any rate, this is Nail Pattern Boldness Texas Tea, a polish exclusive to Llarowe, a fabulous polish distributor that I send a lot of my money off to.

Texas Tea has black and holo glitters in a clear base, which reminds me of Models Own Mixed Up. EXCEPT, Texas Tea has blue and purple hex glitters buried in there, giving it a nicer blue look. This is one coat over a shiny medium blue– Lasenza Fiji Fantasy.

I think next time I might try this over a darker blue polish. What would you pair Texas Tea with?

Newspaper Nails Manicure

Here’s something fun for today! I recently ordered the new Bundle Monster plates. I wasn’t going to, but then I saw plate BM-311 and fell in love! All those text stamps? I need those in my life. For those of you who aren’t aware (which is probably almost all of you), when I’m not doing my nails, I’m working as a freelance writer/editor and a communications coordinator. Swanky!

This was a bit experimental for me. It’s supposed to look like aged paper (like the kind you’d dye with tea). My mom saw it, but my husband thinks it looks like wood. Pft, what does he know!

I started out with two coats of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Whirlwind White as the base. Then I added Lazensa Big Ben, Baby! with a dry fan brush to give it that texture and make sure the colour didn’t go on too dark. I followed that up with Bundle Monster plate BM-311 and some Konad Special Polish in Black for the stamping. I tried to miss the “love” script in the stamp, but you can still see some of it. I even sawed my nails down for this, haha!

What do you think? I might try this again with a more grey polish (China Glaze Recycle!) and see how it looks.

LaSenza polishes – Big Ben Baby!

Another LaSenza polish today! I call this my Job Interview Nails. Every time I meet with a new freelance client/have a job interview, I paint my nails with Big Ben Baby!—and I always get the job. One time I wore something pink and boring, and I was passed over for a job I really wanted. I know it’s silly, but that doesn’t matter to me! Above is is two coats with one coat OPI top coat.

Another reason I like this for job interviews or professional gatherings—it’s a nice, grown-up colour (not a lime green or a sparkly purple, etc.) without having to be the same old boring pink or red (but I do love pinks and reds as well). I end up with a lot of compliments when I wear this out.

This is from LaSenza (Canada’s answer to Victoria’s Secret). This colour is still available on their website, but I’m not sure if they ship outside of Canada.

LaSenza polishes – Fiji Fantasy

Another LaSenza polish for you today! I bought this as part of my search for the perfect navy/dupe of NailGear’s Scandal colour. This one is way more royal blue than navy, but I picked it up anyway.

This is two coats of Fiji Fantasy with one coat OPI top coat.

I don’t wear this one as much as my other two LaSenza polishes. I like it, but I don’t find myself grabbing for it very often. This polish isn’t available on LaSenza’s website anymore, but it might still be available in a store near you… assuming you live in Canada.

Marrakesh Treasure

Who doesn’t freaking love Sally Hansen’s Hidden Treasure polish? I just have a super quick manicure for you today—yesterday’s Marrakesh Me with Hidden Treasure on top. Hidden Treasure looks best over dark polishes (to me, at least). It flashes orange and green depending on the light and is just amazing! Oooh, aahhh! Haha! Enjoy your weekend!

LaSenza polishes – Marrakesh Me

LaSenza (Canada’s answer to Victoria Secret) came out with a line of nail polishes earlier this year/late last year. I’ve only picked up three colours—they were 3 for $15 when I bought them. I didn’t want to buy more since I wasn’t sure how I’d like them. Turns out—they’re awesome!

I just checked on LaSenza’s website and it looks like only a couple colours are available (there were tons more) and they’re on sale for $1.65 each. I don’t know if that means they’re being discontinued? If anyone has details, let me know. You can check out the polishes here on the LaSenza website.

The first polish I bought is Marrakesh Me. It’s a vampy red-brown. This is two coats. Covers well and applies well.

This is one of the polishes still available on the website. I’m not sure if they ship outside of Canada, though.
