January – February 2017 Empties: Cosmetics, Skin Care, and Nail Polish!

New year, and yet, a lot of the same products. I guess I’m loyal, at least to The Body Shop!

Jergens Vitamin E Lotion: I liked this lotion, absorbed nicely into the skin without leaving any greasiness behind. I’m pretty sure I picked this up because I had a full price coupon for it, but I’d also pay money. I have a few other bottles of lotion to get through first, though.

Dove Fresh Cool Essentials Cucumber & Green Tea Scent Anti-Perspirant: I wrote before about how I was going to try a natural deodorant. I’m still working through my stash of Dove, but I did skip ahead and try Tom’s of Maine natural deodorant. Holy hell. I stunk (even after re-applying). Luckily you couldn’t really tell unless you were right in my armpit, but it wasn’t great. I gave it a full week before giving up and switching back to this glorious thing. When I switched back, however, my underarms were pissed off and I ended up with dry, flaky pits for a couple days. And now you know.

EOS hand lotion in Melon: I’ve had this in my purse for a while. It’s a nice hand lotion, but the scent is a bit strong. I like that the container is thin so it fits inside a purse pocket really well.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash: Oh hai. Yeah, went through another one of these. Will continue to purchase!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil: Same story with this little guy!

e.l.f. High Definition Powder: I switched to this from the Make Up Forever HD powder a while ago. It does a good job, but I noticed when I get to the bottom the powder kind of balls up? It’s just in the last few applications that you notice it. And for $6, I can’t complain.

Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Mascara: I think I received this long ago in a sample box from P&G. The mascara wasn’t as wet as I thought it would be, I found it very dry. It didn’t clump at all and worked well to give me a more natural-looking lash.

MAC Falsh Lashes Extreme Black Mascara: I like that MAC has samples now. Whenever I do have to break down and buy from MAC (like, for example, when I drop my $70 MAC kabuki brush in the toilet in a freak accident and have to replace it… true story) it’s a nice little treat. I think I’ve used this one before but I enjoyed it once more. If only they’d bring back Plushlash (R.I.P.)

Revlon Quick Dry Base Coat: This was a nice little base coat, no complaints from me. Kept my polish on and did its best to battle nail staining.

Gosh Velvet Touch eyeliner in Metallic Brass: I’ve had this for so long it’s embarrassing. I’m happy to have it gone, but also a little sad. I don’t think Gosh even makes Metallic Brass anymore. Their Velvet Touch eyeliners are great, probably my favourite! I’m currently working my way through a couple samples and older eyeliners, but then I’m going straight back to Gosh Velvet Touch in black!

e.l.f. Shine Eraser blotting papers: Another staple for me. I’m sure there are better blotting papers out there, but these are so cheap and handy.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer sample in Custard Medium 1: “Medium? Lindsey, aren’t you basically albino?” The answer is yes. This was a sample from Sephora. I really wanted to try the NARS concealer and am happy to report back that it covers well and doesn’t crease. Did I walk around with concealer three shades too dark? Yup.

Joe Fresh cotton pads: Whoa, what are you doing here?! This reminds me, I need to pick up more of these guys.

What products have you been enjoying lately? Any product recommendations? Let me know!
