Nail Gear Scandal Dupe – Blue Glittery Nail Polishes

My all-time favourite nail polish happens to be an old discontinued one from the 90s from Bonne Bell called Nail Gear Scandal. It’s blue, it’s glittery, it’s sort of in the Essie Starry Starry Night dupe family only more cerulean, it’s perfect. While hunting for Essie Starry Starry Night dupes, I’m also really searching for Nail Gear Scandal dupes.

What inspired me to post? After seeing swatches of Girly Bits Blue Eyed Beer Drinkin Music Lovin Lawyer, I thought it might be a close dupe. Let’s see…

Index: Picture Polish Cosmos (two coats)
Middle: Girly Bits Blue Eyed Beer Drinkin Music Lovin Lawyer (three coats)
Ring: Nail Gear Scandal (two coats)
Pinkie: Sally Hansen Dimension (um… four or five? It’s so sheer and takes forever to dry so I gave up)

Picture Polish Cosmos isn’t the right shade of blue and the flakie glitter and holo particles definitely do not match up with Nail Gear Scandal, but it’s still a great polish. Girly Bits Blue Eyed Beer Drinkin Music Lovin Lawyer is too glittery (well, not too glittery, but more glittery-er than Nail Gear Scandal) and it’s lighter. As you can see, Nail Gear Scandal is a deep cerulean with smaller glitters that are a bit more sparse. And that Sally Hansen? Well, like I said– I gave up. After four or five coats it wasn’t looking like Nail Gear Scandal. The blue base isn’t right and compared to the other polishes, that glitter is huge!

No dupes, but I did find another favourite blue glittery polish in Girly Bits Blue Eyed Beer Drinkin Music Lovin Lawyer. That blue is gorgeous and that glitter just glows! I have a feeling you’ll be seeing more and more of this polish show up on my blog.

What are your favourite blue polishes with glitter? Know of any good dupes or have a bottle of Nail Gear Scandal that needs a good home?;)
