A Unicorn Peed on my Nails! – Girly Bits Shift Happens and Comparisons

Here is the final installment of my Girly Bits review (well, for now. I’m sure more orders will be placed when Pam’s shop is open again). I’ve left the best for last—Shift Happens is the ultimate multichrome polish, a Clarins 230 dupe, a.k.a. Unicorn Pee!

This is two coats of Girly Bits Shift Happens over Finger Paints Be A Pal-ette (a shimmery dark purple).

Since I have other unicorn pee polishes, I did a comparison of them on my rarely seen left hand.

These are two coats each over Finger Paints Be A Pal-ette.
Index: Girl Bits Shift Happens
Middle: Clarins 230
Ring: Max Factor Fantasy Fire
Pinkie: Nfu-Oh 51

Layered on top of a dark colour, the first three polishes aren’t really distinguishable. Nfu-Oh 51 looks different of course because of the flakies. Girly Bits Shift Happens and Clarins 230 are the most similar, with Max Factor Fantasy Fire having a purple base instead of a red one.

Overall: Girly Bits Shift Happens is your best bet for unicorn pee right now, just make sure you keep up with her to find out when her shop re-opens. At $11.50, it’s also the cheapest of the unicorn pees. Clarins 230 can run you as much as $60, and Max Factor Fantasy Fire usually goes for around $15 for the tiniest of bottles. Nfu-Oh 51 isn’t super expensive, but it also has those flakies which does make it different.

  1. Ahhhh I love your swatching skills. My nails never look that nice. I abuse them fairly regularly with acetone, with all my testing.
    Great pics, thank you!
