Handmade campaign: books without batteries

Saturday, August 20th, 2011

One of the major issues in the publishing/literary world that I find most fascinating is the argument for and against e-readers. For those of you that have been reading my blog for a while, you know that I work best when I can get my hands dirty and go through paper copies of my writing […]

MacLeod surviving the Giller

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

Below is an interview with the Giller short-listed author Alexander MacLeod. I interviewed MacLeod while he was on the road promoting his book Light Lifting, and he was super friendly to talk to even though he was insanely busy and I’m sure very tired! If you haven’t picked up Light Lifting, make sure you do […]

The Bitchin’ Kitchen is not your mother’s cookbook

Sunday, July 17th, 2011

Usually I wouldn’t review a cookbook, but Nadia G is pretty awesome. In terms of cooking, she is pure rock ‘n’ roll. She was also incredibly friendly to speak with. Here’s a review of her cookbook from 2009. Nadia Giosia hopes to bring a little bit of rock ‘n’ roll to the otherwise bland world […]

PostSecret unites us through shared secrets

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

This is a great interview I did with Frank Warren of PostSecret. I’ve been a loyal follower for years and speaking with him was a very nice experience. He’s very passionate about what he does and also very friendly and open. I also think his work for suicide prevention is inspiring. Check out the interview […]

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

Well, here’s another one from the vaults! The end of the article mentions a book launch. Obviously you can’t go to it anymore, unless you’re a time traveller, but let me assure you that it was awesome. I sat on the floor because there were so many people there to listen to Marty Gervais read. […]

Interview with Sara Gruen – 2009

Sunday, July 3rd, 2011

I was going through my old blog posts doing some maintenance, when I noticed that I hadn’t posted a few reviews/interviews I did for the Lance over the last couple years. Shame on me! Here’s an older interview with Sara Gruen, focusing on National Novel Writing Month. Keep in mind that this was before Water […]

Scott Thompson takes on the graphic novel

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

Scott Thompson’s phone isn’t cooperating as well as it should as he speaks with me from Los Angeles. He always opts for cheap phones when he’s down there. “I get one of those drug dealer phones that are disposable, but I’m always having people call me constantly,” Thompson explained. “It’s kind of a scam. You […]
